With 60 miles of beaches, South Carolina’s Grand Strand is especially busy during the summer months and holiday weekends such as Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day weekends. During these times, residents and visitors can expect increased traffic and congestion as well as increased policing with the potential for traffic diversions or other restrictions. Here are some more details about these busy weekends to help keep you safe.
Memorial Day Weekend
Along with honoring the men and women who have served our country, Memorial Day Weekend is a time to celebrate in Myrtle Beach. Among the celebrations, the area plays host to the Atlantic Beach BikeFest, an annual motorcycle rally with live music and entertainment held throughout the weekend and throughout the Grand Strand region.
Independence Day Weekend
The Fourth of July is another festive time in Myrtle Beach as families celebrate this holiday weekend with plenty of patriotic spirit. Several towns or venues in the area put on public fireworks displays for spectators to enjoy. However, discharging fireworks is illegal within the city limits of municipalities along the Grand Strand. Establishments that sell fireworks within Horry County are required to post in a conspicuous location the rules and regulations regarding fireworks.
Labor Day Weekend
One of the last big celebrations of the summer season is Labor Day Weekend as families make their way to Myrtle Beach one last time before the start of school and the summer season changes to fall.
Additional High Volume Time Periods
