The City of Myrtle Beach’s Coordinated Effort Coalition is proud to present the latest installment in its Night of Knowledge community awareness series, “Empathy in Action: A Walk in Our Shoes.” This transformative program, hosted in partnership with the South Carolina Office of Rural Health (SCORH), takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, at Midtown Vineyard Church, 504 27th Ave. N., Myrtle Beach.
During the free event, members of the community will gain meaningful insight into the challenges faced by those dealing with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, job instability and other concerns. The event includes interactive, role-play scenarios to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the numerous barriers individuals face when navigating systems within our community.
SCORH’s Director of Behavioral Health Initiatives and Workforce Development Jessica Seel, MPH, said events like this help break down the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction. The South Carolina Office of Rural Health is a non-profit organization based in Columbia with a mission to close the gap in health status between rural and urban communities.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. For more information, email coordinatedeffort@cityofmyrtlebeach.com.
